Xylophone for beginners is a beginners note-reading book for xylophone students. Prior to using this book, students should have learnt some basic music theory elements like note values (semibreve, crotchet and quaver and crotchet rest). The common alphabetic note name are not used as the book adopts solfege. Instead of the commonly used A, B, C, D, E, F, G—which don’t sound similar to the notes—Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si are used(solfege). Students are thus able to learn and memorise the correct intonation for each pitch and name.
The book comprises 25 lessons, 13 covering Do, Re, Mi, Fa and Sol (level 1) and 12 lessons covering La, Si and Do (level 2).
